Frankie Edgar Injured, Jim Miller Steps in to Face Matt Wiman
Promoted to the front page from the FanPosts by Luke Thomas.
MMAWeekly.com is reporting that Frankie Edgar has suffered an undisclosed injury and is pulling out of his scheduled lightweight fight against Matt Wiman at UFC Fight Night 16: "Fights for the Troops" next week.
Jim Miller will be stepping in to face Wiman on just over a week's notice. Miller was successful in his Octagon debut back in October when he submitted French grappler David Baron with a rear naked choke at UFC 89.
Miller and his brother Dan, who is 2-0 in the UFC's middleweight division, were both acquired after the IFL's demise and as Jamie Cruz students, have shown incredible promise so far.

UFN 16 would now easily be the weakest Zuffa promoted card ever if it weren’t for the TUF8 finale. Did this show really need to exist? Yoshida/Kos would have been better used for UFC 93, speaking of shows in need of enthralling undercards.
It’s free, and I guess you’re getting what you pay for, but I won’t complain too loudly. I like free MMA.

Oh, that it is, thank god. No one would watch it otherwise. I just fail to see the excitement for these shows when compared to, I dunno, your average DEEP event.
You say this as though you expect to convince everyone to accept your opinion as fact.
If you can’t even bring yourself to accept the possibility that this event could be worth your while, then that’s a shame for you. You’ll excuse me if I am a bit less jaded.

Yeah, they are real similar. Big time fights with lots of meaning.
You may be overstating your case.
I don’t think this change weakens the card at all.
If anything, Miller makes for a much more exciting opponent for Wiman and potentially a more dangerous one than Edgar as well. He has excellent wrestling (although perhaps not at the level of Edgar’s), and a submission game that’s far beyond that of Edgar.
A win for Wiman makes him 5-1 in the UFC and I could easily see him facing the likes of Clay Guida, Tyson Griffin or Joe Stevenson if he wins.
If Miller wins it legitimizes his prospect status, although David Baron was no cupcake either.
Miller...
is the balls. I seriously enjoy watching Jim Miller fight and I’m stoked that he is getting “the call” in these situations.
