How about a live chat with WAMMA?
I would like to suggest a Live Chat with WAMMA representives on Bloody Elbow.
It appears there is a disconnect between what WAMMA is all about and what the common MMA fan believes WAMMA is all about. Srike that cause I don't want to speak for anyone else maybe I should just say at least in my opinion there is a huge disconnect between what I believe WAMMA is all about and what they say they are all about.
I think a live chat or something set up where we could ask questions and get answers would be a great thing. I think it needs to be something in real time though because a lot of times in the past interviews I have read they give answers but they don't really answer the question sometimes.
This could be a good way for WAMMA to get out their message and to explain any misconceptions anyone may have about them. Just a nice civil discussion.
For example I would love to know why they would consider sanctioning the Aoki vs. Alvarez fight as a WAMMA title fight.
Here is some things I would like to know about them sanctioning that fight.
I thought there was no official regulation of MMA in Japan. I am under the impression there is no Athletic Commission or something comparable overseeing MMA in Japan like there is in the U.S.
So will WAMMA as the Sanctioning Body for the fight then be doing the drug testing and supplying the referees and judges for the fight?
Or how exactly are the referees and judges chosen for fights in Japan? Surely they won't be directly affliated with the promotion holding the event.
Don't get wrong here I'm not saying there is cheating or anything else going on in Japan MMA but I would think WAMMA would want the the fans to know they are on top of all these things and that to get sanctioned by WAMMA the fighters definitely have to be drug tested and that the referees and judges of the fight are without a doubt unbiased.
Also would the fight be held under the same unified rules that the Fedor vs. Tim Sylvia fight was held under? I would think the rules would need to be the same for every WAMMA title fight so as to eliminate any doubts that one set of rules favors one fighter over another and could hurt the belts credibility as being Undisputed.
On the same note would WAMMA then require the fight to be 5 rounds lasting 5 minutes apiece? For the same reasons as above the fights need to be held under the same conditions to ensure that they can call the belt Undisputed. I mean I'm under the impression WAMMA's whole concept is based off of having Undisputed Champions. If all the fights are held under different rules then it will be pretty hard to verify them as Undiputed wouldn't it?
That is just a few questions I would have about them sanctioning that fight.
One more question I would ask though is:
Can you list all the positive things WAMMA has already accomplished to make the sport of MMA better since you formed?"
That is just a few things I would like to know.
Feel free to ask other questions in the comments and maybe WAMMA will see it and answer them if we can't do a live chat. Please keep it civil though. I really would like to have a civil discussion on matters like this.
The FanPosts are solely the subjective opinions of Bloody Elbow readers and do not necessarily reflect the views of Bloody Elbow editors or staff.

If you recall....
A few months back, BE.com was good enough to submit our questions in a Q & A session with SCAMMA and all we got was standard fair, politically correct, and in some cases contradicting answers. here

I have read the previous Q & A.
That is why I thought a live chat in real-time would allow a person that felt their question wasn’t getting answered could re-phrase the question to get an answer or to just flat out say your not answering my question and hopefully get an answer.

In my opinion..
You already went above and beyond by issuing a retraction and apology. I need to hear nothing more from SCAMMA. Live Chat? Who cares? They don’t deserve the respect. You would be hard pressed to find any support for SCAMMA, save for a few people who stand to gain financially. They challenged your freedom of speech and threatened you with potential legal action. Please? Live Chat? Matt let’s not give them the power.
Interesting
You bring up some very valid points Mattman! I Specially would love to hear their responses to what positives they have added to MMA. Also i do believe you are correct about no governing bodies in Japan. Come on Wamma step up to the plate and give us mma fans answers to our questions. We are the ones who shell out the cash for HDNet and the ppv dollars, i think its the least we deserve!
No thanks...
we’ve given them enough chances to address the concerns of the MMA community here on bloodyelbow. I’m done giving them the chance to get “good press” from us.

At this point I think a live chat would end up as Subo tossing insult after insult at them for an hour or so(or however long it would take them to up and leave). That might be funny but it wouldn’t be very productive or informative for either side. Besides as you said they have already had a number of chances to address concerns and explain their positions here in the past. I don’t see where them answering the same questions with the same dodging answers would change the current situation.
I gladly accept your praise
I’m not sure it was meant as such, but the question I’d ask would simply be unanswerable:
1) Why was Fedor given the first crack at the WAMMA belt after fighting nobodies for years
2) Why is Barnett in line for a shot at the belt after fighting nobodies for years
3) How on God’s green earth do you defend Lindland-Belfort as a MW title fight
I could go on, but insults only really come from me if you lie, dodge or deliberately mislead. All three of which are trademarks of WAMMA.

I assumed they would be smartly written scathing insults, the kind that would make them very sad pandas by the end of the live chat :D
Hey, you’re right… fuck it, sign me up!

Furthermore...
I think we had to be considered a fairly “friendly” site for WAMMA considering that I gave them those previous interviews while trying to be fair and not let my personal opinions inject themselves too much. But they still would go after one of our readers with their bully tactics rather than coming to me and saying “hey Brent, I have some concerns about this article…I don’t think it is obvious satire…what can we do to clear things up?” They made it clear that they don’t give a shit about us or you guys…so they will not get a dime worth of positive attention from me if I can help it.
Also, every interview with them reads the same. They’ve got 5 or 6 standard responses and that’s all you’ll get from them no matter how hard you try to push them to explain things more than just those standard responses. I don’t need to read real time scripted responses.

You gave them all the rope they needed to hang themselves. Well done.

Ahhh... Mr. Subo
You should have a conversation with the man, face to face…. if you thought his postings were profane tirades…. he’ll shock you face to face. Very intelligent and very blunt…

that being said.

A live chat with WAMMA?
I’m with Brent, no thanks… I would have to care about what they have to say in order to really take anything from the “chat”.
WAMMA is just a bunch of politicians who are looking to make a quick buck off the MMA craze.
O.k. I see the point maybe a live chat isn't such a good idea.
I really was just wanting to know the answers to those questions I wrote down and I didn’t think the chances of WAMMA answering one of my e-mails was very good at this point.
mattman73...
You did good by me, bro…. I thought what you wrote initially was funny as hell and the piece served its purpose and that was entertain us.
All be it that being forced to apologize on the site is ridiculous, you handled it like a mature adult when WAMMA was probably just fishing for another way to get attention.
Bravo sir, I applaud your efforts.

Thanks.
I have to say it was hard to read everything that was said in the other threads and not want to jump in after every comment to try and defend myself or to explain something. But I figured the conversation was best had without me for the most part.
I have to say I’m just really happy there is a site like Bloody Elbow that will let me post stuff and then stand up for my right to post it whether they agree or disagree with my opinion.
Thank you Bloody Elbow and thank you everyone in the Bloody Elbow community.
I think maybe I should have just made this a FanPost specifically thanking everyone at Bloody Elbow it would have served a much better purpose.
Well so anyway I love guys.

Err...
We love you to bro.. but I think you might want to edit this part a bit….
Well so anyway I love guys.
Lol....
I spit beer all over the place when I read that….. dude….lmao…. I appreciate your work but I ain’t givin ya no “dutch cranks” or anything..

Oh Yea!!!!
Yea that was supposed to be “I love you guys.”
I was going for the over-dramatic ending.
I guess that just re-enforces the fact that I’m not a professional writer and I should maybe read what I write before I post it.
Uhmm..
I wonder where my reply went.. was it deleted? I don’t remember it being offensive.. just that it was fucked up my bad internet connection..
Matt – Sorry if I had you in a bad spot there..
No worries.
I guess I didn’t get to see it.
I wouldn’t have minded anyway.
I can take it. I messed up and wrote I love guys. Not that there is anything wrong with that but I deserve to take some good humored abuse for that mistake.
That's good..
I guess you didn’t. My connection gets awry at times and i just found out that some of my other comments here also didn’t made it, so it weren’t deleted rather it weren’t posted..
Anyways, you did a good job with that debacle.. I applaud your efforts even after what they did..
Sure they do:
Answer 1. “WAMMA is promoter neutral. We actively seek to work with all promotions. Clearly with the UFC being the dominant promotion, we would be very excited to have them on board and cooperating with WAMMA. WAMMA does not believe UFC association with WAMMA would either 1. Devalue the UFC belt or 2. "Siphon off” ad dollars from the UFC." – Promotion Neutrality
Answer 2. “Since the inception of WAMMA rankings, UFC fighters have always been ranked within our WAMMA Rankings and will always be ranked. Moreover, Zuffa fighters dominant our rankings. The fighters themselves want to fight for undisputed, world titles. However, we see no value to the fighters, the fans, the promotions, or WAMMA in awarding WAMMA titles to fighters that could not accept, endorse, defend, mention, or even be seen with a WAMMA belt without jeopardy to their livelihood based on existing contractual obligations and/or prohibitions to promotions that do not endorse WAMMA. " – um…not so much promotion neutrality (it isn’t treating every promotion the same when you say "you don’t like us…so we will ignore your fighters”)
Answer 3. “We’re much more than a sanctioning body” – the standby for “please stop asking us about how we can sanction such awful fights for "undisputed titles”
Answer 4. “WAMMA is needed so that a sanctioning body with no financial ties to promoters exists in regard to rankings, undisputed titles, fighters rights, etc.” – Again, we’re here to make sure everything is fair…and not dominated by what fighter is fighting for what promotion.
Answer 5. “we here at WAMMA do believe that a match between Robbie Lawler vs Matt Lindland would make the cut for a legitimate WAMMA Championship match.” – We need to pretend that we can call Lawler or Lindland an “Undisputed champion outside of promotional boundries when Anderson Silva still…you know…exists.” Please do not read answer 5 directly after answer 4.

My favorite part...
is that those are all direct quotes from the mouths of the top people at WAMMA. It’s not like I’m making shit up (i mean..I’d better not be or they’ll sue the shit out of me I guess)

Mine too - the satire writes itself
It’s almost like they’re shocked someone noticed.
My comedic mind wants WAMMA to keep giving me material, but I guess my brain and my heart and my soul want them to die. Sigh. I guess my comedic mind will be disappointed.

Ooooh, how'd you make your post Xmas green?
"It's like a flying knuckle sandwich." --Rogan
"And many men have eaten it." -- Goldy
I was thinking about that too..
I thought, maybe if you get rec’d for a couple times then you’d get Xmas green..
yeah...
once your post becomes rec’d by a few people it “goes green” I forget what the actual number is.
