‘The UFC is taking a wait-and-see approach to us.’
Ha ha…overly optimistc.

Yeah...
they’ve switched that up a few times. It was a “they don’t want to work with us” to “wait and see” when in actuality it is “get away from us and go sit at the kids table”

The characterization of why they passed on Vitor vs. Lindland is stunning.

Mike Lynch does not agree with me.
Did you know we are in high demand, Laura?

I think the guy from Affliction in the second video is exaggerating a little when talking about a ‘alphabet soup’ problem in MMA. There are very few big time promoters that have credibility. And unless he’s including local organizations life XFA,MFA, MFA and all those small time or so called ‘little leagues’ of mma I don’t think there is a problem with there being too many champions.

Preccisely
Is there any casual or hardcore fan who is confused about whether the UFC belt or XFO title matters more?

Furthermore, if WAMMA believes that all these smaller promotions having titles is a problem, why aren’t they trying to get them on board? If WAMMA seriously thinks that this ‘alphabet soup of titles’ and ‘thousands of champions’ is a problem, why aren’t they trying to get organizations like XFO, PFC, KOTC, etc. to drop their titles and recognize the WAMMA title?

I think that the guy from Affliction(I can’t remember his name, but I know he’s the COO) is using messed up logic.
They say there is a alphabet soup problem but they don’t include the smaller shows? Affliction isn’t as dumb as they look. They know the smaller shows have sub par talent or at best up and coming talent that will eventually land in the bigger promotions. To include the smaller shows would be useless and I think Affliction is only recognizing these promotions, at least in the interview, to try and back up their point that there are too many champions. In reality they couldn’t care less about the smaller shows and they know there are at most 4-5 big players in the MMA world. The main player, and the most stubborn player, is obviously the UFC/WEC. Besides them there is Dream, Sengoku, and Strikeforce. And I include Strikeforce because out of all the smaller shows they are perhaps the best run and most stable. Not to mention they have a tv deal with NBC and that is nothing to scoff at.

Just a correction, that guy with the Affliction shirt is the COO of WAMMA, not Affliction. The shirt may have thrown you off, I know I was confused for a bit about who exactly he was before I rewatched the video.
Here is his profile on their website: http://gowamma.com/officers-lynch.asp

They said the same thing...
in the interview with me. And it made no sense then either. Especially when at the same time they say “We don’t want to get rid of the promotional titles…we just want ours to be the big one” (summarizing) which means “there are too many titles in the sport…but we want to keep them…AND add ours.”

What a joke that he’s wearing an Affliction shirt while doing the interview.
I also find that guy that said he’s really looking forward to the next UFC because of the Okami/Lister fight. If anyone really wants to see Okami/Lister more than Forrest/Rashad and/or Rampage/Wandy, they have problems.

There is also...
a sense of desperation from them to seem like they’re “true fans” of the sport…so they will point to fights like Okami/Lister to try to seem more like they’re just like us. When in reality they’re not.

I also liked how he was calling the people working with WAMMA “forward-thinking promotions” yet he had to mention that a bunch of them are now defunct. At least WAMMA is funny.

I really want...
to write another article on WAMMA but I’ve spent so much time writing about them that I worry I’m giving them too much attention.
That being said…I find it a bit sad that they’re getting all this time in the spotlight over the past 2 weeks or so…and nothing they are trying to say or do is flying with the MMA community at all.

Oh god this show is so bad. So fucking bad.
“The only thing I’ve ever seen from Forrest that impressed me was his heart”
How about his iron guard against Shogun and Jackson? How about stopping virtually all of Shogun’s takedowns? How about outstriking Shogun? How about chopping Rampage down with leg kicks?
Forrest has to be the most serially underrated fighter in MMA. You’d think he’s just some dude on the street that has no quit in him. He’s actually very technically proficient and a very smart fighter. He’s also huge.
