PLEASE GOD IF YOU REALLY EXIST

Bless Yvel with hands of stone and MAKE THIS HAPPEN.

I’m a Barnett fan and would love to see Barnett vs. Fedor but for some odd reason I feel the exact same way.

Please Yvel don’t let me down. I’ll dedicate my next FanPost to you.

Wow, could bad luck once again foil the potential for a Fedor vs. Barnett showdown?

I don’t think Yvel stands a chance in hell, but it would be a freaky circumstance if he somehow does.

I am liking more and more the way Atencio is lining things up. I just hope he can make his business plan as attractive.

It is hard to argue the strategy of using HWs to attract the US viewers.

Eliot Marshall: Bader won. Like I said in the episode, I'm not going to make any excuses. It's my job to be able to deal with when somebody's doing that. It's not his job to change up his tactics.

What a joke of a #1 contender match. Tom, please, don’t think of your fans base as morons. Everyone knows this is a gimmie fight for Barnett.

Agreed, but I think that is what they are expecting (a Barnett win).

Um

Brock Lesnar fought Heath Bloody Herring for his title shot. Does that mean the UFC thinks its fan base are morons?

I don’t recall most people thinking Herring was a gimme fight for Lesnar.

raises hand

I thought it was a gimme.

I am also among the minority who remember watching JOB vs. Herring.

I see what you’re getting at…but this is a bit different.

(A) Barnett is an established, experienced, elite (alliteration!) mma fighter. Lesnar was greener than a John Deere tractor.

(B) Herring, while far from someone you’d think would qualify you for a HW title shot – is an experienced, legit fighter and top 10 guy (in the UFC). Gilbert Yvel hasn’t been relevant in mma in any way for the last decade (if ever).

by The_Gaijin on Dec 18, 2008 8:06 PM EST up reply actions

Exactly – and Herring wasn’t even part of the four-fighter bracket for the belt!

Including Brock Lesnar in a HW championship tourney is a world apart from including Gilbert fucking Yvel.

by Derek Suboticki on Dec 18, 2008 8:08 PM EST up reply actions

And the fact that he won his “half of the belt”, for lack of better term, is further evidence that he was deserving of being there and it was not as ridiculous as people try to make it sound.

On the otherhand, if Yvel beats Barnett and Fedor – I will eat my keyboard.

So

They are trying to finally make Barnett vs. Fedor happen at a show that probably isn’t going to happen? Nice.
