Quote of the Day: Tim Sylvia Talks WAMMA
![]()
Sherdog.com: You had the opportunity to challenge for the World Association of Mixed Martial Arts heavyweight championship when you fought Fedor. Do you feel that’s a valid title and did it mean anything to you?
Sylvia: No, it didn’t really mean much. WAMMA hasn’t been established yet. I think they’re doing the right things. Hopefully, they will be able to be established, but with some of the big shows, EliteXC and IFL, going under -- if they were going to recognize the belt -- it’s kind of hard to. If the UFC doesn’t recognize the belt as being number one, then it really isn’t, right?

but he also said in the same interview..
"I think it’s wrong for the sport. I don’t think he’s got enough credibility yet. Obviously anything can happen in the sport, and he beat a great guy, but s–t, he’s only had four fights. I think it hurts the UFC’s credibility a little bit just because you have a WWE wrestling star who’s the heavyweight champ…."

No comments on that so far, huh.
Truth hurts.

I totally forgot about Sylvia.
Seriously, when I saw the post, at first I was like, “Sylvia? That dude’s still around?” I guess out of sight really is out of mind for me.
LMAO!
I had forgotten all about that Zulu gif. (found in the related fanshots section on your right) from the Fedor/Sylvia fight :D
Good times.
Don't ever forget 'don't get Zulu'd'

Tim Sylvia, putting things in prospective, what are the odds?
Conversely, If the UFC doesn’t recognize Tim Sylvia as being a top competitor, then he really isn’t, right?
Being on the internet gives me a right...nay a responsibility to bitch about things
I like Tim Sylvia, I don’t know why people hate on him so much. I met him in Chicago at the UFC 90 weigh ins and he is really nice and not hung up on himself.
I’d like to see Tim back in the UFC, maybe I am the only one. I’d love to see him fight Brock Lesnar.

I would also like to see Lesnar obliterate Sylvia.

I’ve heard other people say the same, but for me, its just the slow or down right arrogant comments he makes every now and then. Its as if hes trying to talk trash or hype, but it just doesnt work.
For example i really disliked a comment he made on Inside MMA just last week when he said “Arlovski has recovered well from that knockout i gave him” when asked about Arlovski performance against Rothwell. Things like that just rub me the wrong way. I honestly doubt that most respectful fighters would answr that way.
Besides the fact that they are talking about Brock maybe against Nog, and Fedor against Arlovski, and he has nothing smart to say?? I mean come on, hes probably the only guy to have fought all 4!! (I need to check that).

I agree with everything you say regarding his Inside MMA interview. That’s Sylvia. He’s an absolute douchebag. He tries to prop up his accomplishments with the Arlovski comment, in the post fight interview when he got subbed by Nog, and now about Lesnar. Lesnar stopped the guy who beat Sylvia up for 5 rounds, and Lesnar would beat up Sylvia as well. Tim knows that, and that’s why he’s talking so much.
I think the more interesting part of the interview is Tim saying that Brock Lesnar being Champion with only four fights hurts the UFC’s credibility and isn’t good for the sport.I think everyone agrees Wamma is a sham.Big Tim also states Dana White is nice to his face then he hears him talk shit about him in interviews. He also surprisingly makes no mention of wanting to fight Ken Shamrock.I thought that would have been brought up in the interview.
That’s a funny comment for him to make about a guy who just TKO’d someone who dominated him.
