Promoted to the front page from the FanPosts by Luke Thomas. WAMMA is feigning relevance, but if they are going to assert any sort of credibility it's going to be through the lightweight division where the worldwide talent is spread beyond the shores of Zuffa.
FiveOuncesofPain.com has the scoop:
FiveOuncesOfPain.com has learned that a planned lightweight bout between Shinya Aoki and Eddie Alvarez that is scheduled to take place on Dec. 31 at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan at FEG’s “Dynamite!!” event could see the vacant lightweight title for the World Alliance of Mixed Martial Arts on the line.
Sources indicated that talks are only in their preliminary stages and that K-1 and DREAM officials have not made a final decision regarding whether Alvarez vs. Aoki will have WAMMA’s title at stake.
Is this just another ploy by WAMMA to feign relevance or would they be correct in labeling the winner of Alvarez/Aoki the #1 in the world?
