Randy Couture to star in The Expendables
The Expendables is a new movie being written and directed by Sylvester Stallone. Stallone will also star. From Ain't It Cool News:
Randy Couture has been added to the movie's cast, joining the already announced Jason Statham, Jet Li, and Dolph Lundgren. Sly's hoping he'll be able to give Couture an excellent boost towards big screen action stardom.
In the movie, a group of mercenaries infiltrate a South American country to overthrow its dictator and free the population. Oscar winner Forest Whitaker is also attached to play an important role, which will no doubt bring a certain level of credibility to the film.
This is absolutely outstanding for Randy. If he's going to do anything of note with an acting career, starring alongside names like Stallone, Statham, Li, and Lundgren is the best way to start. Stallone and Lundgren appeared in some of the definitive action movies of the 80s and 90s and the same can be said for Statham and Li for the present day.

I would say Randy gets killed off after Dolph, but before Jason Statham and Jet Li.
Did you know we are in high demand, Laura?

Let’s cast ’em:
Randy – The leader of the team. A grizzled veteran who has seen too much. This’ll be his last mission, whether or not he survives!
Dolph – Warchild from Bridge of Dragons. If you haven’t seen this movie, buy two copies now.
Jet Li – Ninja. Who freaking cares if he’s Chinese?
Jason Statham – The guy who’ll survive to tell the tale and grow from his experiences. He’ll keep his promise to the team by finishing the mission and killing the final boss. At some point he’ll roundhouse kick a missile.

Sounds about right. I’m also going to say Dolph is some type of spy who turns on the team. Stallone is probably going to be the leader type dude, with Couture his second in command. The two share a bond of friendship that is tied into the horrors they’ve witnessed. on the battlefield over the years. Whitaker will play the dictator. Stallone saw a picture of him from the Last King of Scotland and immediately gave him a call.

Even better: Stallone and Couture are old war buddies. But, and here’s the twist, one chose to follow his principles and the other followed the money. Thusly, one of them is the leader of the squad from TASS (Totally Awesome Super Squad), while the other one is the anachronistic captain of the guard for the dictator!
Did you here that? That’s the sound of complex interpersonal relationships and character development!

Well, if it has Duke Nukem’s seal of approval, how can it go wrong?

Nah way. There’s a reason Stallone movies (Rambo, Rocky Balboa) and Statham movies (Crank, Transporter, Bank Job) are heavily advertised at UFC events – they’re appealing to the same demo. That means that UFC fans and Couture fans specifically are going to be flocking to this movie to see Randy – meaning he is going to be pulling in moviegoers – meaning he will have a prominent role.

I hope it comes to some theaters, principally because it will be straight criminal if this movie isn’t played exclusively on Imax in 3-D. Criminal.

It will be straight to dvd in the same way Transporter and Rambo were.

Transporter and Rambo were badass. What each movie lacked in character development and plot structure it made up for in shit blowing up and cool ones liners.
