Thanks to a question of JCS_FM's and a free afternoon of mine, BloodyElbow's Meta-Rankings will at least for this month contain bantamweight and (probably for just this month) flyweight rankings.
Only seven sites that I am familiar with rank bantamweights. If you know of any others, please let me know in the comments.
Just like the featherweight division, bantamweight is largely dominated by the WEC. Five of the top 10 and 10 of the top 25 are WEC fighters.
#1 Miguel Torres most recently dominated #10 Manny Tapia at WEC 37. And #2 Brian Bowles submitted #7 Will Ribeiro.
The only other top 10 fighter to have competed recently is #8 Takeya Mizugaki who defeated unranked Masahiro Oishi.
#11 Norifumi Yamamoto (who is #12 at featherweight thanks to splitting his rankings between weight classes) has not competed since last New Year's Eve when he defeated #12 Rani Yahya.
I'm afraid there's not much more for me to add, but if any of you do, I'd like to hear it.
NOTE: The Meta-Rankings are not the subjective opinion of the BloodyElbow team or myself, but rather a compilation of the rankings of over twenty leading MMA web sites. It is our opinion that these are the most informative MMA rankings anywhere.

Based on the premise that opinions are like assholes, everybody has one and they all stink. instead of putting up our own subjective fighter rankings, we compile and average the rankings of every source we could find online.
The goal is to show how the MMA community rates the fighters, not to bore you with our opinions.
Be sure and look at the points, they're a much more telling number than the ranking. There's clearly a huge gulf between the top 9 fighters and those that follow.
A total of 50 fighters were ranked in the top 25 by one source or another, for reasons of sanity I only track the top 25 (26 due to a tie) most highly rated fighters.
25 points are awarded for a first place ranking, 16 for a 10th place ranking, 1 for a 25th place ranking. A formula is used to "normalize" the data so all fighters are awarded points from those lists that do not include a full 25 fighters. Fuller explanation below.
The normalization scheme as explained by JCS of FightMatrix is here:
The "normalization number" (new name) would be:
120
divided by
(Total Fighters Found in Any List minus 10)Every fighter found somewhere else, but on a Top 10 list would be assigned this number.
The "normalization" number would not apply to a fighter not found on a Top 25 list. They would simply get 0.
So the process would be:
Do all of the Top 25 lists first, #1 = 25, #2 = 24…. #24 = 2, #25 = 1
Do all of the Top 10 lists, same scoring structure.. stops at #10 = 16Figure out that normalization variable.
Fill in the normalization variable to all fighters not found in the Top 10 lists, but found elsewhere.
Do your totals and rank.
The FanPosts are solely the subjective opinions of Bloody Elbow readers and do not necessarily reflect the views of Bloody Elbow editors or staff.

Anyone have any idea why the “Send To Phone Send To Phone” at the bottom reappears after being deleted?

Here is my question...
Ribeiro is 7 and he lost to Bowles…. Tapia is 10 and he lost to the champ….
There some sort of logic I’m missing here?

Not sure what you mean....
Those aren’t their only fights? Maybe Tapia getting dominated made him look worse than Rebeiro getting tapped by Bowles.
Chase Beebe… there is a guy I haven’t seen a lot of lately.

I’m saying perhaps Ribeiro’s entire resume is held in higher regard than Tapia’s. That they aren’t being just purely on their efforts at WEC 37.

Beebe is fighting Mike Easton at UWC: Man O’ War in Fairfax, VA on February 21. If you can’t make the fight it’ll be streamed on Sherdog for free.

Here is my question
Where do you rank Curran on this? Granted its his first fight at 135 but the guy was a tiny 145 lber and will make 135 easily. He’s been working on making it ever since his loss to Brown. I talked to him that night and said he was gonna drop all the way back then. That was over 6 months ago. Expect him to look good no matter who he fights

Keep it up dude, this is great stuff and I can’t wait to see the flyweight meta-ranking (though I won’t be surprised if there just aren’t enough sets of rankings for one). Rec’d.

There really, really aren’t enough sites. I’ll get them up tomorrow night. I’m going out now and won’t be home until some time tomorrow night (or maybe Sunday afternoon).

Great work Richard!
For selfish reasons, I hope the WEC continues to pilfer top bantamweight fighters from Japan (i.e. so I don’t have to search the interwebs to see these cats fight).

I just wanted to say thanks guys, for the work put into compiling these rankings. And to Richard, thanks for adding the lighter weights! I think this is where mma has a lot of potential to grow and build new stars. These rankings can give the fans a focal point to see what guys they should be looking for in classes tahtare just starting to get some recognition. Nice job!
Eliot Marshall: Bader won. Like I said in the episode, I'm not going to make any excuses. It's my job to be able to deal with when somebody's doing that. It's not his job to change up his tactics.

To be fair, the dummies who ranked Matsune also ranked Akitoshi Hokazono in their top ten despite the fact that he hasn’t fought in over two years AND announced his retirement in January.
