I’m 3rd in the running totals…Are the belts given out for the event totals or the running totals? Either way, I feel pretty good about being in the top 3!
Belt’s are given out to the winner of an event or if you are/were the total leader. =)

Hey Nick, do you keep spreadsheets of all the betting for each event? I’m really curious to see if the attempt to get first, rather than simply make money, is causing people to lose more money on the whole than you would otherwise expect.
I will next year, once the sample size for events is a little bigger.

People bet the underdogs… when they don’t win like the last two events… only 38% and 24% made the money.

Thats what I was figuring, but that would be at least partly just the sample size error from the favorites winning more than expected. I’m wondering if the tendency to bet underdogs is resulting in people favoring bad bets over good bets.
I know in my own case in this event, I got butchered while throwing money on guys I knew nothing about, just on the recognition that you pretty much have to bet on one or two big underdogs in order to have a shot at winning.
I also find it interesting that you have two conflicting contests going on at once. The overall leader contest favors generally good betting, while the individual contests favor betting underdogs and hoping to hit big. The overall scores this year will be cleared for next year, but I bet by April or so of next year there will be two different groups of bettors with completely different strategies, as the guys who hit the lottery the first few months start betting safely to maximize their shot at the overall leaderboard.

Yeah let me know if my excel math is wrong…
Example for Koscheck -250 and Yoshida +200 I use:
(((A/250)*100)+A) + (((B/100)*200)+B)
Where A or B would be the $ amount betting.

Yeah it should be
((100/250)+1)*A ((200/100)1)*B
Where A is the amount bet on Koscheck and B is the amount bet on Yoshida. I end up with a total of 1471.957
Your B example doesn’t work… it should be $300 if you bet $100. In your example you get $200.
Your A example gives the same amount as mine… so I’m not sure how mine is wrong… can you explain with examples? =)
you are right, because I missed another + sign
((100/250)+1)*A + ((200/100)+1)*B
I will give an example
What I am doing is converting to european odds. where 200 = 3.00 on the line. and -150 = 1.6666. That way you don’t need to mess with – and + and handle then diffrently. With the european number you just * it by the bet and you have the total including the original bet amount. That is why the number is never below 1. So if I bet 300 on Mcculy at +145 that converts to (145/100)1 = 2.45 = my return is the 300 I bet plus my winnings if 435 = 735. For a – number it works in a similar way. I bet 300 on Bruno at -120 that converts to ((100/120)+1) = 1.833. My return is 300 * 1.8333 = my bet 300 + 250 in profit. = 550. Now my total is 1285 for fight night. Then I also had a bet on Miller at -115 and that returned my bet 100 with a profit of 87. 187 + 1285 = 1471 which should be my total.
Your Bets
Miller 100 @ -115
Bruno 300 @ -120
Mccully 300 @ +145
My formula
(((100/115)*100)+100) + (((300/120)*100)+300) + (((300/100)*145)+300) = 187 + 550 + 735 = 1472

I agree. I check your formula and it works, but you list my total at the top as szucconi $1,172, so maybe there is another problem with the excel
