Martin Kampmann returns (debuts at 170) at UFC 93

Former UFC middleweight contender Martin Kampmann will make his welterweight debut at UFC 93 in Dublin on January 17th according to a report from FiveOuncesofPain.com

No opponent has been named yet, but Diego Sanchez and Dustin Hazelett would both present interesting challenges for Kampmann's first fight at 170.  George Sotiropolous is another welterweight we haven't heard from in a while...perhaps we might see him involved?

In other welterweight news, Chris Wilson will return to UFC action at UFC 94 in January according to a message on his MySpace page.  No opponent has been named for Wilson either.

Holy crap

Kampman at 170 against Diego or Hazelett on top of what is already on that Dublin card is overkill. That card is going to be amazing.

93 is really starting to look solid.

He’s going to be very dangerous at 170 with his striking.

I wonder who they will give him. A tough first fight at 170 or a cupcake? Man, If Jake Shields was in the mix that would be a great matchup.

Diego Sanchez?

Kampmann would beat the piss out of Shields right now, based on that Daley fight.

Diego needs an opponent quick if he wants to stay relevant in the title picture. He just finished two B-level guys and needs a step up in competition. If Jake Shields can’t clear his contract issues up in time, which looks to be the case, Kampmann would be perfect.

Great, great card forming here. Kampmann looked bad against Nate, but a lot of people do. Best of luck to him.

Great move by Kampmann. He looked TINY in comparison to Marquardt in their fight.
