I feel luckier to be contributor here. Maybe that allows me to escape the label of “functionally retarded.” In all honesty, you’ve got a point. I just like the fights… and the training stuff.

Re EliteXC, I totally agree with you that EliteXC is not looking out for anyone but themselves, but that could be said about 99% of MMA promotions and 100% of major MMA promotions. Its easy for successful promotions to appear benevolent, but when the chips are down the necessity of these promotions to make money at all costs will be very evident.
Re TUF, I stopped watching TUF after the second episode of season 8, and every time it comes up in the various podcasts I am reaffirmed. I am happy to say that the only TUF article on MMA Ratings is: The Throwaway Quote That Lost TUF. The show simply has too little relevance or quality.
However, while the show could certainly be better, I think TUF is still good for the UFC. No one is going to stop watching the UFC because TUF is a piece of S. But it still has the potential to draw new viewers. Do those viewers have to be retards? Maybe, but most MMA fans…you know. Personally I would never use TUF as a method to attract friends to MMA. There’s just to much actual MMA on TV (and my hard drive).
I do think its interesting that you got way more callers for this segment than Couture/Lesnar.
Re Couture/Lesnar, I agree with Terence that UFC brass has more to gain if Lesnar wins. He’s younger and can draw new fans. Couture’s time in the sport is limited and Couture fans are already watching and won’t stop if he loses. I disagree with Terence that this is the sentiment of hardcore fans. I think the vast majority of hard core fans would hate to see such a long time veteran and champion lose to a relative newb.
I also agree with Terence that a quick KO is certainly a possibility. Lesnar is quick and he hits hard. However, I think the more likely scenario is that Randy will be able to avoid too much punishment if and when he’s on the bottom, use his Greco well against Brock’s freestyle to avoid the ground and Lesnar’s power. This fight could go a lot of ways, but I am picking Randy by armbar in the later rounds against a tired and frustrated Lesnar.
I also think any concerns about Randy’s time off are moot as he has been training “enough”. Also moot are any concerns about his age. I think Randy’s got the “Home Grown H” sauce to mitigate the effects.
Solid show as always!
