ESPN's "MMA Live" to Cover UFC 91 on Location

Espn_medium I'm guessing this deal went into place before the airing of last night's "Lord of the Flies" circle jerk, but it's fantastic news nevertheless:

Today, Jon Anik, host of ESPN.com's MMA Live, tells MMARated.com that the show will cover next week's UFC 91 event on location in Las Vegas. The shows will be billed as "MMA Live at UFC 91."

MMA Live will tape one show in Bristol, Conn., during the week followed by three in Las Vegas: A live weigh-in show, a preview show before the event and a post-fight show. The MMA Live  crew will also be making appearances on all the ESPN platforms, such as the morning and evening editions of SportsCenter, ESPNNews and ESPN2's First Take, to talk about the event.

It’s not an organization it’s a reality show. Plus ESPN isn’t as insane as the UFC about pretending all other things don’t exist that they don’t own.

It's not an organization YET

But these fighters will be fighting for a contract, right? Not just a prize at the end?

Where will they be competing to end up, and what stops the UFC from working to crush it just like it has any other organization that they felt threatened them (which, given that ESPN is giving them weekly airtime, they most likely will)?

UFC needs to worry about alienating the main outlet for sports in the United States. As it is, a new reality show about MMA in mexico only helps the UFC.

Appearances on ALL the ESPN platforms? Wow…that’s madd exposure.

This is good. The show is evolving and hopefully will get on ESPN television regularly soon.

Brilliant news

Hopefully this won’t be a one-off; it’d be great if they could do this format at major MMA shows both in the US and abroad.
