Matt Lindland Loses Bid for Oregon Legislature

From The Oregonian:
Oregon House District 52
Matt Lindland Rep. 5,863 41%
Suzanne VanOrman Dem. 8,245 58%
Write-in 34 0%
I can't say I'm shocked. Lindland didn't exactly seem to be selling anything that would be bought in Oregon (not that I'm an expert on the political climate in Oregon). A 17% loss is pretty convincing. It'll be interesting to see if he decides to continue onward with his political aspirations after the loss.

Oregon is very liberal. Lindland never had a chance.

His section of oregon is, but its pretty split east and west. But only like 3% of the vote is in, I think.

You're right...
I may have misread the intentions of the paper or the Oregonian may have just been “calling it” a little early

He won’t. I was working on a fan post to state as much. Obama won the district by more, so he made up some ground on the anti-R in the area.

It’s pretty cool that he still got 41% of the votes for not being involved with politics before. He must have been doing something right to get that much. I was thinking he’d get blown out.

Honestly, most people probably voted straight ticket, so its not that great of an accomplishment.

He probably picked up a big chunk of those votes because he is a Republican. There are Republicans and Democrats who would vote for Charles Manson as long as he was running for their party. He got the people who already vote Republican no matter what, but he failed to attract any of the 20% of people who decide elections.

Congratulations
…to the guy for attempting was most do not have the nerve or the intelligence to undertake. If Matt Lindland was in the UFC, Dana White would be supporting him as “the chosen one”…but because he isn’t, a word wasn’t even uttered.
Hopefully he will run again.

Don’t take this the wrong way…because I’m not challenging you or anyone else.
Do you want him to run again because he is a fighter? Or because you agree with his policies and think he would be good in the role?
I’m just genuinely curious where most MMA fans are at in their support of Lindland and if it is an “I know that guy” thing or what.
