Crocop vs. Overeem Officially Called Off

Fronted by Brent Brookhouse - It is a bit sad to have to wait, but having both fighters at 100% and ready to go for the rematch is the biggest thing right now.
Crocop vs Overeem Called off - Source
In a recenet Press interview with Tanigawa, Head Official of K-1, he has stated that even though both parties wish the fight to happen, they are unable to make this fight happen for the NYE event, Fields Dynamite:
In regards to Rumors with Alistair VS Mirko Cro Cop for the rematch. Alistair is begging for the rematch, however it will be a different card for this event.
This match was never officially confirmed by DREAM or K-1 Officials, however both parties agreed to the fight and were confident DREAM was going to be able to make this fight happen.

I bet it has something to do with Mirko’s need for surgery. They probably want Mirko to get the surgery now rather than go in to the fight at 50%. It would make for a better fight if both guys are at their best and jebus knows Dream needs a marquee matchup to draw in big ratings.
It’s good they aren’t fighting again now. I really don’t want to see Mirko go in hurt and then lose because of that. Overeem has been talking so much crap he needs to get his ass kicked.

The way they are reading it over at Fightlinker is that they are going to book Cro Cop with someone else because they don’t think there is enough interest in a rematch in Japan. Don’t be surprised if they end up with Cro Cop fighting a tv or sports celebrity or in some kind of circus fight.

Good news. i want CC to be healthy so he can’t use that as an excuse after Overeem smashes him.

I'm on your team here...
Overeem is a really bad matchup for Mirko. And at the rate he is improving he is fast becoming a very bad matchup for anyone.

Mirko signed on to fight, but his testicles’ agent refused to the terms.

Alistair won't have the balls to show up

I think it’s safe to say CroCop proved how tremendously overrated he was when he couldn’t hack it in the UFC. He got owned in almost every fight in the UFC.

Good
For all I am concerned Overeem won that first fight. Sure it was a NC, but we know who would have won so who cares if its an official Win. Id rather see Alistair fight another top heavyweight so we can see how good he is.

@ EasyEismydad, you probably don’t know much about fighting.
I can write you a list of fights where one guy was controlled for minutes, but won in the end.
If this fight isn’t a NC, it is a win for Mirko due to DQ.
I imagine Overeem signed the contract, DREAM called him and said they can’t make the fight. Overeem walks right up to the media and says he signed the contract, so now Mirko looks like he’s ducking Overeem. Pathetic game by Overeem, same guy who claimed his knees to Mirko’s body were all correct.

Face the facts....
Crocop was getting absolutely handled. And the fact is, Crocop hasn’t looked like the Grandprix Crocop since…..well the Grandprix. Overeem has been hot lately and Mirko’s been beating up on a can and losing to Cheick Kongo, who’s basically a poor man’s Overeem.

Overeem was huffing and puffing hard though
That dude was gassing in Mirko’s guard. I don’t know if he would have been able to finish Mirko (legitimately) and when he didn’t I think he would have gassed out like he always does. So in a way Overeem took the easy way out.

Lets not forget Kongo went the Overeem route and went for the balls.

Ok he might have pulled one out. I’ve watched fighting long enough to know squeaking out a victory when you were losing doesn’t make you a better fighter. Is Drew Fickett better than Kos? Maybe Ryo Chonan is the best fighter in the world because he quickly subbed Silva after escaping death 10 times. Sure it would be impressive, but no matter the outcome of that fight I’m sure everyone would agree that Alistair would win more than 60% of the time against CC and therefore is the better fighter.
The worst part of this sport is that matches take so much time to take place. Why waste an athlete’s career on a fight where one fighter can clearly beat up on the other handily.
PS- Also I didn’t mention anything about whether CC was ducking anyone so you need to learn how to read and how not to be a jerk when you disagree with someone.

Where are your arguments?
You’re the jerk here. I wasn’t relating to you when I wrote about CC not ducking anyone. It’s not everything about you, you’re not that important. Just shut up, ok?

I love Cro Cop…on of my favorite fighters but I am getting so tired of talking and reading about his injuries.

Strikeforce HW belt
What’s up with Overeem and the Strikeforce belt? Is there no one in strikeforce to fight?

There is just a lack of heavyweights period.

CroCop
was getting handled in this fight and I really don’t think he’s in a rush for a rematch with Overeem.

![Golden Glory says Alistair Overeem will fight 3 or 4 times in Strikeforce this year:
"But this year, I've been promised by Golden Glory that he's going to fight three or four times for us here before the end of the year, and we're going to hold him to it." Coker said.
"[Overeem] is going to have to come in and take the necessary tests and prove that he's like every other athlete," Coker said. "The playing field should be even for everyone, including Alistair, who's our world champion."
