ZST. Pronounced like the soap Zest. Differ Ariake is the venue.

what's that weird butt move?

At 2:05 dude looks like he’s proofferring his rectum for a different kind of tag team action. Is this an actual fighting style?

Imanari is known for butt scoop to leg ties. He’s mastered it.

would love to see a Judo Chop on that

I wouldn’t just because seeing his heel hooks make me cringe and I don’t want multiple gifs of them ruining my day.

I think this match officially makes tag team matches more relevant in MMA than in Pro Rasslin.

by Brett Jones on Nov 25, 2008 12:32 PM EST reply actions

Tag team matches?

no thanks. If I want tag team ‘matches’ I’ll watch WWF. Which I’d never do anyways, even if you paid me

by Discman2 on Nov 25, 2008 12:40 PM EST reply actions

Nothing wrong with

watching WWE and being a Hardcore MMA fan. I myself have watched UFC since the beginning, why? Because of Ken Shamrock. When he went to WWF and I heard about UFC I went out and rented every single show once it hit video. Been watching UFC and MMA since. I don’t understand what it is with some people having heart attacks over wrastlin’.

Growing up I loved wrestling and then loved it even more when wrestling got HUGE. This is known as the Stonecold, nWo, Brock, Hollywood Hogan, If ya smell what Im cookin Rock, HHH, Latino Heat, ManKind, Hell in the Cell, Chris Benoit, Booker T, WcW Nitro, RAW, Kurt “You Suck” Angle, Big Bad Booty Daddy Scott Steiner, DX, Wolfpac, Y2J, Trish Stratus, Lita, Sable, Chyna, DDP and his gal Kimberly, Stacey Kiebler, WWF ‘Tough Enough’ Reality Show, Big Show, man the list goes on…

Honestly whats being put on right now by Vince McMahon isnt as good as it used to be. So thats why I don’t watch anymore but theres nothing wrong with liking both.

BTW, on the subject, Tag Team MMA sounds awesome….

ManKind

He’s hardcore! He’s hardcore! He’s hardcore!

How does this even work? You can tag like in rasslin? Is there any sort of scoring based on tags? Why is that small asian man attempting to attack with his @ss? I am so confused and my mind is blown.

Rothwell and Nelson... at last, a platform to shine!!!

They come out to the ring on Harley’s with porkchops hanging out of their mouths…

Sponsorships by PBR, Sara Lee, and of course CondomDepot.com on their teeny tooshies..

by Gunslinger20 on Nov 25, 2008 3:27 PM EST reply actions

Wow. That would be amazing. I would pay to see that. In a few years when MMA is better established as a legitimate sport to the general public, we need more pro-wrestling tie-ins. Seriously. Let’s book Lee Murray v. Stone Cold in a Hell in a Cell. Whose with me?

Zuluzhino/Butterbean!

No, wait – Luke Thomas and Matt Brown! End the rumors!

by Derek Suboticki on Nov 25, 2008 8:13 PM EST up reply actions

No Triple Threats or TLC matches...

I mean, we want to legitimize the sport, right?

by Gunslinger20 on Nov 25, 2008 8:14 PM EST up reply actions

Better yet...

Make Dana White join the Vince McMahon “Kiss My Ass” club…

by Gunslinger20 on Nov 25, 2008 8:15 PM EST up reply actions

Dana White might just do it out of sheer principle – after all, McMahon’s worth about as much as the entire UFC is.

I'm actually quite disturbed by what I've just watched

via the links provided above. The butt-guy really seemed pretty good at sinking heel hooks and leg locks. though.

The ‘Butt-Guy’ lol. I think we found a nickname to rival ‘KenFlo’.

by mythbuster on Nov 25, 2008 3:53 PM EST up reply actions

lol

glad someone liked it. That’s actually a ‘title’ my sister and I devised a few years ago, and it became part of our pet nomenclature. I thought it fit the situation appropriately.

I like watching Imanari fight. He always does this tag team stuff too

by Yasnian on Nov 25, 2008 5:03 PM EST reply actions

I am also surprised about how many people didn’t know about the Imanari butt scoot to leg lock routine

by Yasnian on Nov 25, 2008 5:05 PM EST reply actions

Considering he did it to defeat current WEC featherweight champ Mike Brown, you are correct.

by Luke Thomas on Nov 25, 2008 5:06 PM EST up reply actions

Maybe I’m just ignorant of the Japanese sub-grappling scene but Imanari & Tokoro vs. some guys I’ve never heard of sounds a little mismatched.

by George Lucas on Nov 25, 2008 5:31 PM EST reply actions

Why are people calling it the the butt scoot to leg lock? It’s called a baseball slide, dammit!

by ilostmydog on Nov 25, 2008 6:31 PM EST reply actions

So now I’m a bit confused: does Tag-Team MMA actually exist or just this weird hybrid grappling situation? I can’t imagine real tag team MMA. I think it would cut down on some of the action. A guy could be in trouble or gassing and the action would stop for a minute if he made a tag to allow his partner to come in the ring. It’s just silly. It only works in a staged situation where the referee magically doesn’t see you cheat half the time and no one told him about instant replay.

by dropkick101 on Nov 25, 2008 7:05 PM EST reply actions

Tag team MMA does exist. ZST has featured it in the past and there are videos of it posted on this thread. I suppose you were confused about whether it was weird hybrid grappling because ZST has strange rules. You can choose not to wear gloves in ZST MMA (as Yano and Imanari did in the one match that was posted), but if you do you are not allowed to punch with a closed fist. There are also no strikes to the head while on the ground, much like the rules in RINGS.

The match that Imanari & loser Janitor just won was tag team grappling, not MMA.
