Will King of the Cage Replace EliteXC on CBS?
The ProElite situation continues to take new twists and turns. Now, Terri Trebilcock, president of King of the Cage, introduces another possible resolution to the the contentious battle between Showtime and ProElite:
Despite all appearances to the contrary, Trebilcock says ProElite, CBS, and Showtime are talking on a daily basis and want to continue their working relationship. It's a fragile situation, but all sides agree that a protracted court battle is not the best option. According to Trebilcock, Champion's leadership has pulled Showtime and CBS back from all-out war with ProElite.
...
Though he won't go into details, Trebilcock hints his promotion may fill the void left by EliteXC.
"My guess would be (ProElite) is not going to have to declare bankruptcy to stop (the auction)," he said. "My strongest gut feeling at this point is that King of the Cage, ProElite, and CBS will be working together next year."
I really can't speak to the probability of this scenario coming to fruition, but it would be one way to utilize a piece of the ProElite empire while circumventing a good deal of the baggage that comes with the EliteXC brand. Not to mention, much of the impending legal wrangling could be avoided. It's my opinion that some in the MMA community have been premature in closing the book on CBS/Showtime and MMA programming. Hopefully, this whole picture will become clearer, soon. There's no telling how wild the speculation will become in the interim.

Great article.
I thought something like this was going to happen at first, and thought it was quite feasible. I can see this working out for them.

I don’t buy that they would put KotC on CBS without totally revamping the presentation of that product. But I’m glad to hear Showtime and Pro Elite are still working towards a deal, the talk about Showtime/CBS just walking away never made a lot of sense. It supports the notion that Showtime called this auction as a bluff, to force Pro Elite to come to terms quickly

This just sounds like wishful thinking from Trebilcock.

At this point, I’m taking anything that could be construed as positive coming from anyone that has/had anything to do with Elite with a grain of salt.
In the last month alone there have been a ton of examples of them saying one thing and then the exact opposite thing happening right after that.
So from now on it’s I’ll believe it when I see it.

Damn.
Why are you trying to introduce reason into the equation?

Not sure how this gets around them being completly discredited, tens of millions in debt and already let go all of their employees? If Showtime really wanted to run King of the Cage shows all they would of had to do was keep King of the Cage instead of putting it up for auction, heck they would be better off with King of the Cage without anything ProElite attached to it at all (including the crushing debt).
