The 11/15 Las Vegas show with Randy Couture vs. Brock Lesnar, which should have been a first weekend sellout, due to the combination of the high prices and economy is at 8,000 sold for $3 million, and also moving slowly since only the $500 and up seats are left. There are casinos who have purchased tickets that don’t figure into that number, which is the ticket outlet numbers. But it was scaled to break the all-time UFC gate record of $5.4 million and right now it looks like they are going to have to cut deals or paper to sellout the 14,000 plus seats at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

No Offense to Mr. Lesnar
I understand that Mr. Lesnar is an exceptional athlete with a respectable college wrestling pedigree and truly an awesome physical specimen. I just cannot get excited about him in his new incarnation as a mixed martial artist. I don’t think anyone who wrestled in the WWE can help bring legitimacy to the sport. I have a 88 year old Grandfather whom once finding out that the old WWF was not “real” gave up on all fight sports except for boxing and olympic judo(not that there are a lot of fight sports to choose from). Whenever my brother and I order a PPV put on by the UFC we have to listen to him rant about it being fake. We have tried to convince him but with no success. Now along comes Mr. Lesnar and any hope of convincing “The Old Man” that MMA is real has flown out the window. I don’t think I am the only one who feels this way and these ticket sales, though they will probably go up, are proving that I am not alone. I have no interest in the UFC HW division as long as the world’s best HW mixed martial artists are not a part of it.
