Quote of the Day: Anderson Silva
"I think it's going to be real fun." "Cote is going to come out and stand up with me and it will be exciting and entertaining. He's going to hit me and I'm going to hit him a few times and we'll see what happens."-- Anderson Silva... all class.
"I believe in every opponent there are some weak points that I can capitalize on." "He may find some weak points in my game where he can capitalize on me, but I am very confident and I'm training very hard. I think Patrick Cote is right: I am beatable."
"I believe the confidence that Patrick Cote has is a good thing." "Every fighter should be confident and the same way he's confident I'm confident. If Cote thinks he's going to knock me out or submit me in the third round that's a good thing to think that. But there is an opportunity that he might get knocked out or submitted. I believe everybody is beatable and that's what makes this sport so interesting."

I think it’s impossible for Silva to say the wrong thing. Hard not to like the guy.
"Well if it's gonna be that kinda party, I'm gonna stick my dick in the mashed potatoes."

Agreed.
Too bad hes not a huge draw, the guy is incredible. I get so pumped for his fights.

Gotta like Silva!
However, Cote didn’t even exchange that much with Almeida. I shudder thinking what Anderson is going to do to him, and I like Cote.

Cote wanted to stand, Almeida was trying to take it to the ground
When Cote and Almeida faced off, neither fighter wanted to play to the strengths of the other – therefore Almeida was very cautious about getting into a striking match with Cote, and Patrick was (rightly) wary of being taken down. The net result was an uninspiring fight which regrettably happens from time to time in the UFC.
I’m confident that Cote vs. Silva will be a very different beast. If Patrick can find a way to maneuver around Silva’s laser-guided precision strikes – not to mention being wary of the clinch (see R. Franklin for lesson on what not to do) – then I believe he can win this fight.

The best bet for Cote
is catching Silva and this fight ending quickly, as the longer this fight goes the more risk he runs of eating the full arsenal of Silva’s knees/fists until whoever the ref is is standing above him pushing Silva off of him.

The only thing Silva doesn't do well...
..is talk shit.

He doesn't have to say a thing
How’s that saying go? Something about the emptiest barrels make the most noise?

The emptiest can
rattles the most. Very true

Uhh...
He’s not TRYING to talk shit. He’s speaking frankly about how I feels and I think that he is a true sportsman for that reason. Silva doesn’t have to incite hatred to make fights exciting; he just does so by being competent and owning.

I think...
Blackout was being funny.

But apparently too subtle for our friend, KneeToTheFace.

It is great
to hear a guy speak with respect for his opponent and still be that confident about his skills.

It’s got to be pretty awesome to be such a bad ass that talking trash is rendered totally unnecessary.

![Anderson Silva talks Demian Maia - "Each of us has his main specialty:
"It is not simply jiu jitsu, it is an MMA fight, a new style which comprises various techniques and elements. It's hard to say that I would get him standing and he would get me on the ground. Of course each of us has his main specialty, but fighting is fighting. MMA is a new sport, so we are training and studying. I think we have to sit our butts in serious homework, read and review, watch what we're doing well in training and we are not. I will continue studying the rest of my life. This has worked so far. It may be that an hour is gone, but it is paying off. For me, I treat every fight as if I was studying for a [college] entrance exam," Silva said.
