Bas Rutten Standing By Kimbo Slice, So Are Many Fans
Kimbo Slice trainer Bas Rutten is standing by his fighter, from the Fight Network:
"Some people cannot win regardless of the outcome," Rutten began. "It’s a no-win situation. Everyone is bagging on him. If people are smart, they will look at the fight. It lasted 14 seconds. It was a flash knockout. It was a weird punch but because he was running in and there was some power on it, it knocked him down. Look, if this guy had come in and it was a 1-2 to the body followed up by some punches to the head and another one to the body and you saw Kimbo standing there messed up and then get hit with a clean 1-2 and then go down, then I say that’s going to hurt him. This isn’t going to hurt him. It was more of a push instead of a punch. It’s not a big deal."
And this poll on NBC Sports seems to show that the Kimbo bubble isn't entirely popped.

Bas Rutten is drunk on Kimbo Kool-Aid
Ridiculous statement. Your man got KTFO in 14 seconds by an undercarder from a lower weightclass. There is no upside. And it doesn’t help that he’s never performed well in a credible fight against a legitimate opponent. Kimbo is over. Yeah, people will always watch a freakshow, but he’ll never be a serious contender.
@lbk: Mark Kerr was a contender before he got messed up with drugs. Kimbo hasn’t had anything close to Kerr’s accomplishments.

Everyone has lost their mind!
Kimbo has fought 4 times, and only twice against real fighters. He doesn’t have an NCAA career in wrestling, or a boxing record, or anything in terms of experience. He NEVER claimed to be the best, he just shows up and a lot of people watch. He shouldn’t be facing tough opponents obviously because he isn’t a polished fighter. He’s a rookie. They should just give him opponents that want to slug it out too and see how it goes. Win or lose, he is the guy who had the balls to step in the cage where everyone he faces has been in the sport for way longer. Its easy to sit and judge with what is going on around him, but all the BS is not his fault. Blame Jared Shaw, but give Kimbo the respect he has earned by stepping up. He fights whoever they give him and he is busy doing marketing for the company all the time so he has less time to train than his opponents.
I don’t think there are many people that could do better than him given his situation.
