EliteXC Heat Ratings Are In...

The ratings are in:

http://tvbythenumbers.com/2008/10/05/ratings-saturday-october-4-americas-most-wanted-petruzelli-beat-kimbo-slice/5695

As Ive stated before my data didn't show Elite beating its network debut numbers...

I can tell you however that CBS did have higher expectations... As did pro-elite I'm sure.

Elite was hoping for at least one silver lining to what transpired last night...

The future of MMA on CBS is not looking real good...

UPDATE:  I am hearing a few Elite XC people are looking for jobs.

What does CBS do? Do they talk to UFC and meet their asking price and back off ownership interest and control of the product or assume MMA can’t do good numbers on National TV? The proof is in the buy rates.

My Data shows that it is probable that UFC will have no more than a 1 or 2 year lifespan on Network TV…

That means when UFC is on network TV it has to be done right as the time window for filling up their fan base and brand penetration through this medium is potentially limited.

Think of it like… you get only one trip to the lake and you need water… you already have water but when you make your trip you want to make sure it’s worth it.

Zuffa will not sign a stupid deal and not give up control.

UFC will more than likely not go with CBS… CBS will be used as a bargaining chip with another network.

CBS shot itself in the foot with this circus that zuffa wants nothing to do with.

When UFC is on network it will be a fresh new start… one that has a chance.

In the end a strong cable network partner is worth way more than a few shows on network.

interesting stuff. But seriously, you work for Zuffa? You seem to know what, when, and where they need to be at in the future.

Any gate numbers?

Saturday’s “EliteXC: Heat” event at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Fla., drew a total attendance of 9.414 (7,723 paid) for a live gate of $826,433.

Alright mmalogic, whats your expectation for how the whole EliteXC/Affliction/Golden Boy thing will play out? From what I’ve seen so far, it looks like they don’t have any idea what they will do.

Elite is done…

They are 55m in the whole and they only have enough money for the Nov 8th show….

There only objective with this show was for it to facilitate financing. Well the bubble burst before they could even try.

Nobody is going to buy pro-elite even before this show occurred… too much debt.

Its cheaper for showtime to allow elite to default on their loan and then they pick up the assets on the cheap as they’re first in line (sometime in june/july).

Showtime at that point will either leverage the assets to make a deal with Zuffa for programming, start another promo or just simply liquidate.

Golden Boy will bail as soon as they see that they are converting their boxing fans to UFC fans.

Once they see realize they are opening up pandora’s box they will have 2 choices… either go all in and pray you can make a dent or cut and run.

I bet once they see not only will they be risking lots of money but also their fan base they will do the latter.

In north america boxing only has the geezers and latinos… the geezers will die but the latinos can sustain boxing for a few more generations.

Zuffa is just now trying to penetrate this demo…. if golden boy gambles and they lose they speed up the process of Zuffa’s penetration greatly.

Affliction will die and their clothing will go out of style :)

HDNET as Ive written before has the only shot of being a national player and that lies solely on their ability to get eyeballs on their channel…. everything else is in place.

Seriously Logic, who do you work for? Zuffa?

I should say pro-elite is done…

elite xc is a brand that the new suitors will own… what they do with it remains to be seen.

The numbers are solid, but the future doesn’t look good. They can’t draw without Kimbo, and EliteXC will be putting him on PPV next year, along with Carano. So how can they draw on CBS? I don’t see CBS buying the whole company as a result of this number.

By the way, the breakdown shows Gina is a big draw.

The question isn’t that as much as whether they’re going to save EliteXC from financial doom.

by Michael Rome on Oct 5, 2008 8:06 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Agreed. They’ll take these shows for the next hundred years, but that doesn’t matter if EliteXC loses a fortune on every show.
