Gina Carano: Overweight again

According to the first news from MMAJunkie, Gina Carano failed to make weight again:

  • Gina Carano (142.75) vs. Kelly Kobold (141)
But wait! third time's the charm:
Gina Carano weighed in at 142.75 pounds on her first attempt. After removing all of her clothes, a towel-covered Carano weighed in a second time at 142.5 pounds. On her third attempt Carano weighed 141 pounds.
So take that, haters! Oh, wait...
Also:
  • Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos (148.5) vs. Yoko Takahashi (148.5)

Unless they've been hiding something, I don't think there's a 148.5 division, so Santos and Takahashi seem to have screwed up as well.

"Towel-Covered"?

Pics. Now.

When was the last time she made weight the first try, anyway?

Yeah

And I’m guessing that’s Takahashi’s management’s doing. Takahashi is normally fighting at +150.

Yeah.. she made officially made weight. I kinda doubt it. She loses over 1.5 lbs in several mins due to a towel that was around her? She is a great fighter, don’t get me wrong but you question the integrity of the sport when you don’t put credence to making weight. She is being pushed as the star and she should be expected to do all the things all the other fighters do. You have months to make a contracted weight. There are no excuses.

exactly

couldn`t have put it better, if she is going to be the `face of female MMA` as everyone says, she should be more professional. Its kind of disrepectful to the other camp, especially EVERY time! That or fight heavier.

I honestly have no idea what the “normal” divisions for women’s mma are. It seems pretty circumstantial.
