Quote of the Day 2: Dana White
"Anderson Silva is flipping out. He wants to fight again, like, on Nov. 15. He's upset about his performance and he wants to fight again immediately."-- UFC president Dana White talks to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Yeah sure
Just like when Dana said Anderson wanted two belts and then two days later Silva came out and said the opposite… then a couple weeks later announced retirement plans. We’ll see what happens.
it would kick major amounts of a$$...
if they put him on the “fight for the troops” show. against who, i have no idea. maybe vera?
I think there is absolutely
no chance Dana puts Chuck against Silva given his recent fights, especially if Silva is pissed & is not going to dick around. What would the upside be? If he beats Chuck, he was supposed to. If Chuck catches him & KTFO’s him, what happens next? Big draw not withstanding, I do not see any way this fight happens anytime soon.
You’re probably right that an A. Silva v. Liddell fight won’t happen soon, but I suspect that it will happen while Anderson is still willing to fight and Chuck hasn’t lost all of his “aura” to the general public. Given the payday a fight like this could be, I’d guess that it might happen around the end of 2009 or early/mid 2010 (though obviously this depends on the respective trajectories of the both fighters).
That could
be the way it goes down. If Dana feels that Silva is getting ready to retire or whatever then maybe he pulls the trigger. But after that article the UFC posted about Silva being the best P4P fighter in the world (which I agree with) if Chuck catches him it cannot be good.
As much as I love Chuck
I have to agree with you. But he still has those cement block hands & who knows what happens if Silva is super-aggressive & charges in
I agree
I don’t know why people still talk about Chuck like he’s the monster he used to be. Silva would find every gaping hole Chuck has.
Actually those cement block hands are more like play dough nowadays. Liddell hasn’t finished anyone since 2006.

He wasn’t KO’ed…nor was Jardine…nor was Rampage…nor was Evans…

No he wasn't,
you are right. But I do not think that his power has faded as much as his speed & reaction time has. Not saying he would beat Silva at all, but it is still a definite risk.
Silva has never been KO’ed either…I don’t think I’ve even seem him rocked…Liddell isn’t quick enough to land anything flush…

Whatever you say buddy,
because we have never seen anyone get KTFO’d by someone they should not have.
I think Vera is the Key
Vera is desperate right now. He is coming off 3 out of 4 losses and coming up on a contract renegotiation. He would have no choice but to take it if they asked. I don’t think he would win, but he would put on a good fight for the fans. Vera or Maybe Sokoudjou? that would be interesting.
Or sign fn Arona and feed him to Anderson. that would be a pretty good fight as well.

I like that he wants to fight again. What a pro he is. As I’ve said before, it’s hard to dislke the guy. He can fight two tomato cans in a row for all I care. I’m such a mark.

I agree Michael
I think Dana will make it happen…Dana acts like he doesn’t pay attention to us bloggers and internet media…but HE DOES….if we talk about it enough…it will happen.

Or a straight ahead fighter with big time K.O. power and a questionable chin against a technical striking surgeon who is known for counter-punching. Naw, screw it, PUNCHY PUNCHY TIME!

I don’t even know why there is so much interest in that fight Okami was getting destroyed in the first fight
seriously though who would he fight it’s a little short notice to move up to 205 you saw all the extra weight training and what not he had to do to fight Irvin
Anderson walks around at well over 200lbs.

Walking around at that weight is different than being prepared to fight at that weight. He has to turn what is usually fat into muscle rather then just losing fat to cut weight.
I think the Anderson Silva is so good right now that we need to put him in suspended animation until the rest of the fighters can improve to his level.
Anderson Silva Vs. Robbie Lawler in December....
Brad Ziegler had a scoreless inning streak. Brad Ziegler had not met BJ Upton.
Robbie Lawler since he was training for November would be great. Or if they could move Okami up a month.
OOhhh – fun…would the UFC allow Lawler back in the fold? He does seem to have a renewed combativeness.

Thought about Lawler, but would he take a fight that would most likely kill his momentum against the best fighter in the world at his weight class on two weeks notice? I wouldn’t if I were him or his manager.
What about Jardine?

I think Jardine would take the fight if hes been training since his last fight (he seems to believe he can beat anyone in the world and probably wouldn’t be afraid to go on short notice against Silva) although his camp is known for great game plans and I don’t know if two weeks is enough time to do the type of training and drills so the fighter can instinctively implement that game plan.
That being said, the crazy monkey style against the Bruce Lee style would make for an interesting matchup.
I say Do It Dana – I wanna see Anderson fight again. That card needs him. I would love to see him fight Brandon Vera. It might be the wakening Brandon needs.

I think it would be a great way to make it up to fans. I like the Jardine idea too.

I really think that anyone that is a legit challenger to his title would want much more than two weeks to prepare, especially since they would want to study the tapes of the Cote fight to figure out if his style really was giving Silva problems. It would need to be either a LH or a MW that wasn’t really in line for a title fight eventually.
I'll fight Anderson Silva for $40 000 BE dollars.
That gets you at a minimum of me looking confused at 20 seconds, getting pummled by oddball combinations at 25 seconds, collapsing to the mat unconscious at 27 seconds, and eating shots untill the ref stops the fun at 30 seconds.
Other acceptable currencies are: Canadian Tire Money, Candy, Guiness, and Bandages.
Well..
According to at least three people who post here, you would only have to land 16% of your strikes and not blow out your knee, and you’d be well on your way to an upset victory.
I was thinking a combination of windmilling my arms, and kick line moves to increase my chances. I also nees to gain about 30lb to make weight. Fetch the cake!
Don’t get too excited, I have to go work on my staredown face in the mirror. (think angry thoughts: Junie wins TUF, no more UFC in Canada, Jared Shaw) grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr frowny >:(
I'm going to photoshop $kala and Junie hugging
For training purposes, of course.

This would definately make UFC 91 being the biggest ppv of all time more believable. Anderson will have to fight at MW, because putting on so much weight so fast is definately a recipe for destruction…I say bring in Marquardt, after watching his last fight, a rematch with Silva is something I’d really enjoy watching.
It also makes me laugh how if Cote hadn’t injured his knee all the haters would be swooning over how Silva drew out the fight to make Cote look overmatched, then destroyed him in the 4th or 5th round. It was obvious to me that Silva was just drawing out the fight, landing strikes on occasion and showing that Cote stood no chance. Cote never even scratched Silva, and I was drooling just waiting for the KO that was waiting around the 20 minute mark.
But I think if Silva gets to fight on the 15th, we will see a very angry and determined champion who means business. And that my friends, is very, very scary.

Seriously: have I mentioned that I love Anderson Silva lately? Because I do. I really really do.
