Somebody Ought to Start a Petition
People are very unhappy with UFC 90. Some are mad at Anderson Silva for clowning, others are mad at Patrick Cote for not engaging, and everyone thinks that one ref was an idiot. Mostly though, people are disappointed that they didn't get to see Silva knock somebody out.
So what's to be done about this? Dana White has stated that he wasn't happy with the night and felt disappointed by the ending. The last time folks were this upset about a fight ending so quickly was UFC 61: Bitter Rivals when Tito Ortiz polished off Ken Shamrock in just over a minute. Shamrock claimed that the fight was stopped early and that he was trying the old rope-a-dope on Ortiz. Or maybe brutally assaulting Tito's fists with his face. Whatever.
The point is that the UFC responded by setting up "Ortiz vs. Shamrock 3: The Final Chapter" as a free event on Spike 3 months later. Clearly this would be a great time to ask Dana to set up a free consolation show, and if at all possible to include Anderson Silva as the main event. Since a quick turn-around show like that would likely be too soon to include the injured Patrick Cote, we have an opportunity to not only demand a free show, but the match-up we like.
So who should Anderson fight in this hypothetical show? The last time Dana begged him to fight on short notice on free TV, Silva moved up to 205, and since there's a) nobody in his division that anyone seems excited to see him fight and b) precedent for talking him into fighting at LHW, that might be a good place to look for challengers. Suggestions?
And who wants to start the petition?

Okami’s fighting Dean Lister at UFC 92.
I recommend Anderson Silva vs. Nate Marquardt 2…especially since Marquardt ran through Kampmann at UFC 88 in less than a minute and is injury free. Have them headline the UFN: Fight For The Troops event. I’m not Koscheck’s legs will be healed from all those leg kicks by then :)

And some sort of test to prove you can identify facetiousness. :)

I think one of them means you’re gay. It’s like the one earring thing.

As an aside...
Cote will be out for 6-8 months (http://www.sportsnet.ca/mma/2008/10/27/cote_surgery/)
Fight Jardine at 205...
In his last 5 fights he has went W L W L W…he’s due for a loss. Y not have Silva hand it out to him??
Damn. I forgot about that. Well, it’s Jardine at LHW or Okami at MW. Thiago Silva would be awesome, too.

Thiago Silva
He’s undefeated in the UFC, and a pretty vicious striker. I think he would be a real test for Anderson at 205, and hopefully a cure for his obvious boredom.
Anderson would maul Thiago SIlva…

so...
you wouldn’t want to see that? Anderson would maul a lot of people. I think the point is, who can at least make it entertaining? Thiago’s aggressive style would at least create some interesting exchanges (maybe 1?). Of course, maybe Thiago would take the Cote route and be less aggressive, less willing to commit. We haven’t seen that from him yet, so I don’t know. Any legit LHW striker who stays aggressive might at least have a chance.
Not Really
OnceThiago Silva proves he can beat someone worth mentioning…then I might reconsider.
