It just goes to show the mainstream media ignorance. To some of these people Kimbo Slice was legitimized as a true contender and athlete.

Nitro.....

You are seriously mistaken sir…everyone knows that Randy Couture is the “yoda of MMA, Jit-Jitsu guy”…

holy shit.

I think my friends and I could have a more intelligent discussion about menopause than those people did about mma.

I’m a dude, BTW.

I’ve been meaning to listen to this for a long time. Terrible, just terrible. The host talks about being more desensitized to violence with the advent of MMA. Then he says Lesnar comes from the “fake violence” world of pro wrestling. Pro wrestling is far more violent in its “fake” symbolic form and reality to the participants. The host alludes to this by noting the addiction to pain killers in pro wrestling and alcoholism. Then flat out say that MMA isn’t as violent or dangerous as pro wrestling (or other sports). Still, another panelist says at the end, “He’s going from make believe (pro wrestling) to getting killed.” People die from pro wrestling; there are catastrophic neck injuries in pro wrestling. Such tragedies don’t happen with any form of consistency in MMA.

“MMA has never had a true heavyweight.” Couture is a jiu-jistu guy??? One panelist compares Lesnar to Kimbo based on him looking scary.

ESPN should have at least 1 legit expert on this panel – namely the host. I don’t mind having a bunch of journalists who aren’t familiar with MMA on the panel – it’s part of the learning and mainstreaming process. But even the host is clearly uneducated in the sport. So this is the world wide leader, huh?
