Right now. Paul Kelly vs. Marcus Davis is about to start.

Kelly got sloppy and dove right into a guillotine after a nice takedown. After the fight, he told Joe Rogan that he “shouldn’t have tapped, I should have gone out like a man.” Marcus Davis is ecstatic for the win and says he made a friend in Kelly before the fight even started, then begs Dana to put him on the Dublin card.
Questionable decision on the Lytle/Taylor scrap, which was a Fight of the Night quality slugfest.
After the fight, Lytle asked to fight Marcus Davis in Dublin.
I’m really upset at the idea that Lytle intentionally kept it standing (most of the fight) only to get fight of the night bonus.
I think it’s also the same reason he’s calling out Davis, so he has a good shot at the bonus on that card too.
It’s infuriating that MMA as kickboxing is supposedly the best form of a fight.
I think it’s difficult to question the manner in which he fought when he came out with the victory.

Of course not. My point is just that it seems wrong to criticize him for fighting a certain way when that way led to victory.

Victory is irrelevant when the foundation of the observation is that a fighter may be reducing the capacity of the sport for money.
That is insane...
Lytle’s boxing was crisp for most of the fight….and he won. Obviously he gameplanned to stand and trade, which he would not have done if it were going to get him the loss. He played the right game to get the win.

Most being the first round and the beginning minute of each round after. But I never suggested he couldn’t strike.
He gameplanned to win the fight of the night bonus moreso than to win, which is my point, when he very likely could have had a much easier time collecting his victory on the ground.
But since ground fighting is discouraged by so many fans, refs and promoters as being boring Lytle adjusted his style for money, removing half of the mix of mixed martial arts to appease the powers behind the cash.
Sweet, it’s on now, between the Soko/Cane and Vera/Jardine fights.
