Kizer explained clearly, but I disagree with his “best effort” description of fixing. I think that anything done with the intention of altering the dynamics of a fight are bad news. MMA is vulnerbale to this because of the lower pay, forgivness of a loss, and diffrent areas a bout can take place with the advantage often held in one area or another(ground, standing). The question I would have for him after this interveiw would be if the bonus was given for standing or a KO bonus even if Seth lost (got KOed), would that be a violation? I get what he says about best effort and as long as the fighter is giving his best effort then all is well, but is it his best effort when a fighter stands and loses because he needs the money when he could take it down and win 99% of the time?

KIZER
what i think kieth is trying to say ,is that he does’nt know ALL the facts pertaining to seth petruzelli and elite xc, just what has been written or said about the situation wich none has been proven yet as an exact fact (even though most of us with any common sense can see what went on and what has probably been going on for a while with kimbo slice, look at the bo cantrell fight) and he is also saying that it’s not really none of their business(the nsac) and should be left up to the fsbc to take care of it’s own business. so far the fsbc has dropped the ball on this issue imo. if this had happened in vegas, heads would be rolling.

Seth's Comments
Under the Florida statute, I think there is a very strong argument that this fight falls under “collusive” or “sham” contest prohibitions. You don’t need to guess what the effect of EliteXC’s “bonus” or whatever it is called was—just listen to Seth.
Seth said repeatedly, even after “clarifications” that he fully intended to stand, seeking the KO money. If that isn’t conclusive evidence that the contours of an MMA match were altered (and intentionally), I don’t know what is.
