Another EliteXC conspiracy theory to ponder?
With EliteXC's admission of pretty much doing all they can to encourage stand-up fighting and to discourage ground fighting this past week is it time to look into all the questionable stand-ups that seem to happen during EliteXC events?
After they pretty much out right admitted they want exciting stand-up fights and seem to go to some what questionable methods to encourage that is it possible that those questionable stand-ups is something they could also have a hand in?
I'm considering this a conspiracy theory right now because I'm under the assumption that Athletic Commissions which the referees work for wouldn't take orders from a promoter on how to call fights.
Or is it possible for EliteXC to tell the referees working their shows to stand up fights very quickly even at the detriment to a fighter that seems to be in good position with complete control?
After reading Roy Nelson's comments about his fight and him getting stood up when he seemed to be in pretty good position and it wasn't like he was just laying there is this a question that needs to be addressed in that inquiry into EliteXC's tactics for promoting stand-up fights?
Is it possible for EliteXC to influence the way the referees call their fights?

Of course. Even as many have pointed out, the refs work for the state AC (I believe) there is nothing to prevent a promoter from grabbing the refs ear before a fight. You know, “It may be worth your while to try to keep the fight standing, Freddie.” or similar. A few whispers here and there can do a lot.
Not saying it happened, but some of their calls certainly would lend one to believe it. The bad part is that it would be pretty much unprovable.
referees don't make that much either
….just saying, with the money CBS/Elite XC were throwing around, throwing a few bones to those refs might’ve been worth their while.
Jesus Christmas, last thing we need
better hope this isnt true.I dont wanna see the PTI guys spewing on about this.EXC is doing more damage than good, now the whole U.S. is going to think kimbo and the shamrocks are headliners(maybe frank), and the refs might be fixing too..not good
If they can influence the fight they can easily influence the refs. Your only hope is that the ref is on the up and up and reports them to the AC but IMO that is not likely. I’m sure they would throw say… 6 figures …like they did Petruzelli to alter the outcome of the fight. No doubt it could happen. I just hope MMA doesn’t turn into boxing. That is the biggest joke of a sport anymore.
