Chase Beebe

Stay connected for news and updates

He won the state championship in his wrestling weight class all four years of high school.  Amazing.  I knew a wrestler like that and remember being blown away by his abilities. But Beebe isn't the only one in his family with wrestling pedigree and to no surprise, the wrestler's ethos and work ethic is just as much a part of his family's.  Notable quote:

Chase is the second-oldest of five Beebe brothers who have played a major role in a long span of success at Montini, which claimed five Class A state team titles between 2000 and 2005. His oldest brother, Cole, was the first through the Broncos program and the list also includes his next-youngest-brother, Conor, a redshirt sophomore at Central Michigan who equaled Chase's state title four-peat from 2002-05 and qualified for the NCAA Championships last winter.

"We were all wrestling from the time we were five or six years old," he said. "My dad kind of pushed us into it and it's the best thing he's ever done for us."

Those long years of wrestling have come in handy in the cage and Beebe freely admits he wouldn't be nearly as successful in his new endeavor had it not been for the skills he developed. Besides physical attributes, the mental edge that wrestling gave Beebe is also something that can't be overlooked. But when asked which qualities translate best from the wrestling mat into MMA, there's no hesitation.

"Hip control," he said. "If you've got good hip control, you can block shots. And the natural instinct wrestlers have to get out of danger really transfers."

No wonder he gave Yahya fits.  All hail King Beebe.
