Your answer: I don't care.

What I do care about is what you do BEFORE the show starts: UFCMania.com presents, in association with Bloodyelbow.com's Luke Thomas, ANY GIVEN SATURDAY: OFFICIAL UFC 73 PRE-FIGHT Radio Show!

Joining us will be a fighter who knows something about the UFC: Travis Lutter!  Travis will be on hand to give us his thoughts on UFC 73 and whatever you want to ask him.

Got something to say?  CALL-IN: 646-478-5091.

Oh yeah, and the good folks at BetUS.com have donated some solid giveaways.

Re: ANY GIVEN SATURDAY Tonight at 9PM!!
Not sure I'll be able to call in so here's my picks:
Evans over Ortiz -- UD
Silva over Marquardt -- TKO 3rd (hard one to call but going with Silva since Nate weighed in so light at the weigh in and Silva's knees are supposed to be healthy)
Sherk over Franca -- UD Franca isn't in condition to go 5 with Sherk
Nogueira over Herring -- Submission 3rd
Florian over Robinson -- UD
Bocek over Edgar -- Submission 1st
Bonner over Nickels -- UD
Lytle over Gilliam -- TKO 2nd
Saraiva over Gurgel -- Sub 2nd -- heel hook!

Holy crap did Travis Lutter sound like he wanted to put that weight controversy behind him. What was with the bogus callers in the first hour?

Re: ANY GIVEN SATURDAY Tonight at 9PM!!
If that card was the best the UFC could do, I'm going to a bar to watch from now on.  I dont know where to begin with everything that sucked about that card last night.

Three straight decisions, fighters not trying to finish their opponents, 25 mins of lay and pray by Sherk as usual, BJM not standing them up once but standing Nate up after 21 secs, stopping the title fight ( a title fight!!! ) after 4-5 punches in last 10 secs against a defending seasoned veteran who's won tourneys and been in title matches for 5 years, standing up Kenflo when he was about to get side control, 15 mins between matches, an error a min out of Goldbergs mouth, constant ridiculous statements by Goldberg ( ...and the unbelievable, amazing thing is that he puts his undefeated record on the line... ), Rogan saying how great the card is right after 2 UDs and a Draw... on and on.
Quality MMA, quality fights and cards died with DSE-owned Pride.

Re: ANY GIVEN SATURDAY Tonight at 9PM!!
Huh? I didn't see Sherk doing any "lay and pray". To me, that's when a guy is winded, out of options and just lays there breathing hard. That's certainly not what I saw. Sherk would have pounded the crap out of Franca if he had gotten an opening, but Franca held him off. How many serious submission attempts did Sherk wiggle out of? Six? Seven? That was amazing. There was quite a lot of action happening on the ground, so why would Big John stand them up? I thought Sherk v. Franca was textbook. (Franca could have easily ended it with one of those knees to the head, then it would have been a whole other story.) If you want to see slugfests, with guys doing nothing but stand on their feet and swing for the fences, there are lots of Kimbo Slice videos on the web.

Crappy decisions by refs in MMA is a fact of life--just like umps in baseball. The only problem I had with the event was having to listen to those retards at Arco Arena boo all night long. It was as good a UFC card as I've seen recently.

Re: ANY GIVEN SATURDAY Tonight at 9PM!!
I've got to agree with Max. Accusing Sherk of LayNPray just reflects a lack of appreciation for the ground game. There was constant movement, position after position, both fighters were consistently threatening to get submissions. With the monster knees Franca kept landing and the multiple guillotines he put on Sherk, it was a close  fight that was a hair's breadth away from going to Franca.
Marquardt got restarted because he was trapped in guard, throwing no significant blows and making no moves to improve position. And he was in the fetal position taking bombs to the head when the fight was called. Unlike Okami or most UFC fighters, Silva's ground and pound isn't a lot of random arm punches being thrown into the downed man's arms, he throws precision strikes to the skull when openings present themselves. Any more of those shots and the ref would have been negligent.
I will grant you that the Tito/Ortiz fight sucked.
