Half and Half

Stay connected for news and updates

According to Sports911.com, the "Softbank presents Dynamite!! USA in association with ProElite" K-1 event on June 2 at the Los Angeles Memorial Colliseum will be aired half on Showtime (the Elite XC portion) and half on PPV (the K-1 portion).  Notable quote:

The pay-per-view fight card, which begins at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT, will feature up to six fights, with co-main events. Prior to the pay-per-view, SHOWTIME will televise three explosive bouts featuring EliteXC stars Jake Shields, Antonio Silva and Gina Carano.
Remember, K-1, Elite XC, Spirit MC, BodogFight, Cage Rage, and Strikeforce have all banded together to fight the Zuffa brand.  I think that makes sense.  Breaking up the event into partial cable, partial PPV seems convoluted and destined for failure.  Who is going to pay for 6 fights after watching a few for free?  My guess is they think the first few fights will entice viewers to order PPV, but they'll probably be inclined to turn the channel and keep watching free tv.
