UFC lightweight champion Sean Sherk, had his suspension reduced to six months, reports Sherdog.com editor Josh Gross:
The California State Athletic Commission upheld a fine of $2500. Sherk, 34, will be eligible to return to the Octagon in January.
Will Sherk still be stripped of the belt?
The Fight Network says probably:
Since it did not vindicate him, the CSAC decision will likely result in Sherk's being stripped of the UFC lightweight crown. The promotion set precedent for such a move in year's past, as it stripped former heavyweight titleholder Josh Barnett following his positive test in Nevada in 2003. Tim Sylvia also relinquished the heavyweight crown in wake of a positive test.
Following the hearing, Sherk
stated:
"I'm not happy at all with (a six-month suspension and fine). This is not over," indicating that he would be discussing possible legal action with his attorneys.
